who is rathana?

Rathana is a farmer’s son who was born in 1979 in Roluos village, Roluos Meanchey commune, Sambor district, Kratie province, bordering Stung Treng and Ratanakiri provinces, in a village surrounded by ethnic minorities of the Kingdom of Cambodia. My father’s name is Ros San, my mother’s name is Tay Bean. I have 10 siblings; I am the 9th child in my families. At the age of 12, I left my hometown with a sense of nostalgia and asked my parents to become a monk to receive an education under the guidance of a monk. In 1992, the area where I lived was full of war and the Khmer Rouge, Pol Pot. Every evening from 5 to 9:30 pm., there was always gunfire between government soldiers and Pol Pot soldiers around the village. There was no proper school like today. At that time, I studied under a tree or through a hut under the monk’s umbrella as a school to teach the children of the villagers, including me, because this village and commune was remote from the province, about 85 kilometers from Kratie province. I remembered the past when I was a child of hardship and poverty. In addition to my goals and experience through previous organizational work since 2008 until now, helping in the fields of education, scholarships, community support, culture, classical music, and bringing foreign guests to learn about Khmer civilization, I also have a desire to establish an organization to help poor students in the community, culture, and show civilization through humanitarian organizations. What I thought was right, I met with Dr. Phill Caldwell, the CEO of The Savong Foundation Cambodia in 2016. I also discussed the above field and he was interested in helping establish this organization for the purpose of helping humanity, called the Lotus Flower Organization of Cambodia and received a license from the Ministry of Interior Prakas #4421, dated 29th April 2025. To fulfill my goals, as well as his goals, to help poor students who are unable to continue their studies at both secondary and university levels in their families’ difficult and poor lives. Therefore, my friends and I strongly hope that friends both at home and abroad, as well as philanthropists, will join in supporting the above project to help poor or underprivileged students receive a full education through this project. Thank you for your support.
